Software Engineer: Backend, Full Stack & DevOps
I design and build APIs, microservices and data pipelines, and own the path to production: CI/CD, Kubernetes and Terraform on AWS and GCP.
About
Software Engineer with 10+ years of experience across backend, full-stack and DevOps, working in Java, Python and Node.js with React and Angular on the frontend. I design and build APIs, microservices and data pipelines, and I own the path to production: CI/CD, Kubernetes, Terraform and on-call reliability work on AWS and GCP.
I have led greenfield builds and legacy-to-cloud migrations, practice TDD and DDD, and have mentored junior developers across several teams. AWS Certified (Solutions Architect – Associate), with a Master's in DevOps & Cloud Computing.
Hands-on with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, OpenCode). Experienced in remote, distributed, cross-country teams, with international projects across Europe, Latin America and Australia.

I am part of the core backend team building the platform that replaces our team's legacy system, the one Inditex and its sub-companies use to look up employee work-history data. We are about 40% through the migration.
- I design and build synchronous (OpenAPI) and asynchronous (AsyncAPI) APIs across 3 internal services, using Java and Spring Boot on Amiga, Inditex's internal framework, with Kubernetes for deployment and Postgres and Kafka underneath. One of those three I built from scratch: the sync service that keeps the new platform's data up to date with every change made in the legacy system.
- I also helped redesign the data model. Instead of the legacy system's opaque schema, we now have a clear, resource-aligned PostgreSQL structure, where a /positions endpoint is backed by an actual positions table, not a cryptic legacy code. I built the routing logic that cuts traffic over to the new system as each API finishes migrating.

NTT DATA Europe & Latam (Outsourcing Allianz) · Barcelona, Spain · Hybrid
I worked across three Allianz projects through NTT DATA, over about a year, moving between backend, frontend, and full-stack work depending on what each team needed.
- Spain: I built backend APIs and contributed to the existing Angular frontend.
- Italy: I joined Allianz's international team as a frontend developer, completing and polishing an existing product ahead of delivery.
- Australia: I worked full-stack, backend and frontend at the same time.

I worked on Naeku, a product for storing and distributing music and video to multiple Demand Side Platforms, and I was involved across every phase of building it.
- I took part in architecture discussions, actively contributing technical designs and solutions for specific problems the team ran into. On the backend, we had Java microservices on Spring Boot and Quarkus alongside Python microservices on Django and FastAPI, backed by PostgreSQL and MongoDB, with Next.js on the frontend. I touched all of these.
- I also led the DevOps side of the project, mostly on AWS. I owned the CI/CD pipelines and managed the infrastructure behind them: EKS, RDS, EC2, MSK, ECR, and Lambda, among other components.

Apiux Tech · Medellín, Colombia · Remote
I worked on Librux, an internal Apiux product built to be offered as a SaaS: a document library where companies can store and index their documents, run any kind of search, set permissions across teams, and run update workflows that need review from specific members.
- I was mainly a backend developer on Java and Spring Boot, and since we had designed the application from scratch, I was involved in real technical and architecture decisions throughout. At points in the project, I also acted as technical lead, with direct contact with the client and leading a team of 3 to 4 people, and I mentored junior developers who joined to help us out.
- The project had customized versions for 2 client companies, each needing specific functionality added.

I worked as both a backend and frontend developer, maintaining several applications tied to Sura's health insurance policy services, using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, and Oracle with PL/SQL. I also led a project.
- It was a small internal effort with a team of 3: myself, another backend developer, and someone on frontend. I worked backend there too while leading it.

I built both the backend and frontend for a multi-level purchase approval application covering budget-based approval requests across different company areas, using Java and Spring Boot on the backend, Angular on the frontend, and Microsoft SQL Server as the database. Deployment ran on the client's own servers.
- The database schema was hard to work with directly, so every query went through stored procedures and functions instead of querying tables directly, and any change we needed meant adjusting those procedures rather than the queries themselves.

Surcolombiana University · Neiva, Colombia · On-site
I started here as a full-stack developer, working on backend and frontend at the same time. My first task was supporting and modernizing 3 applications, moving them from WAR projects with Servlets to Spring Framework 3, and from JSP on the frontend to AngularJS and later Angular 2 and 4.
- As I gained experience, I took on responsibility for more applications going through the same kind of modernization. We worked with PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server as our databases. I managed a local datasource where I deployed the applications under my responsibility.
